Tracie | Owner, Accounts Payable, Saddle/Bridle/Bit Fitter

Although growing up riding Western, my young adult life took me to the Hunter world. Then after raising my three children and their three American Shetlands, I decided to keep my horses’ feet on the ground and studied dressage with Teak and the late Belastra, my heart horse. We started with better developing foundational skills and working our way up the USDF levels.

Throughout this process with Belastra and Teak, I found how much I loved teaching and training foundational skills including flexibility, balance, impulsion, energy, confidence, obedience, yielding to pressure, communicating with body language just to name a few. I feel that all riders should develop strong foundational skills in their horses and continually review and integrate these skills into their regular training regime. It became a passion teaching youth riders, like my own children, these skills and how to integrate them into their everyday routines with their horse. A horse with stronger foundational skills will be a better athlete and partner and will hopefully provide that horse a better and healthier life.

Although I now take a back seat to horse shows and teaching to help my children achieve their academic and equestrian goals, I will continue to support all my horses with these essential life skills.

Tim and I have since become very involved in the eventing community as our daughters have growing interest in the US Eventing Area VII and train under fantastic Area VII coaches.

I have continued my education to include saddle, bridle, and bit fitting and my husband and I own Tack Room Too as a way to further support our family and the local horse community.

Meet Tokoda Spirit Quest | 8 yr old 15.1 Buckskin Mare | Fresian Quarter Horse Cross Registerd as Fresian Sport Horse | Nickname: 'T' or the 'Unicorn', 'Sweetpea', and sometimes 'The Tart'

When I was thinking of who my next dream horse would be. I was considering maybe a Quarter Horse that would have a TB look. I have a small infatuation with Friesians-all the hair and feathers-what fun to have a barbie pony. Never did I put the 2 together until a friend of a friend mentioned Takoda and the possibility of selling a then green broke 4 yr old BUCKSKIN. Even though we had some young horse issues here and there- its been the best decision I have ever made. She is a very dappled buckskin with enough tail for 3 horses and a decent long mane and some bangs. She doesn't really have feathers- she kinda fakes it in the winter. She has developed into an extremely easier keeper and my own personal saddle fitting nightmare.
I tease that she needs a square saddle to fit her. She enjoys people, enjoys trailer rides, enjoys being pampered and treats. She is a joy to be around and my main joy in life. So far- she wasn't a very forward horse (a first for me) but she now has some giddy up, pretty steady trail horse and some day hope to do lower level eventing if we can figure out english saddle fit or bypass jumping and do straight dressage. She has many levels of trot, smooth in all gaits.

Tokoda's Owner, Shawnea | Store Manager

I got my First Horse at age 13. Worked or groomed my way to Class A Morgan breed shows 16-19 years old. Top Ten Hunt Seat EQ Morgan Nationals in 1989 on my 5 year old. Morgan gelding, Paradox Rawlings. Worked at Dan's Feed & Seed for 6 years prior to Tack Room Too. I've been selling tack for over 30 years.

My variety of experience includes:

  • Hunt Seat EQ / Hunter Hack
  • Morgan Western Pleasure
  • Morgan English Pleasure (Saddle Seat)
  • Driving-Carriage and Country Pleasure
  • Dressage / Eventing / Show Jumping
  • Team Roping-heading
  • Started a few babies

I have been crazy about horses and tack most of my life. I still have copies of Millers catalogs, Libertyville Saddle Shop catalogs, all my Practical Horseman magazines from the 80s-90s. I've always been obsessed with learning the different tack options, supplements, barn supplies - all of it.

Meet Journey

This is Journey. Journey, her friends (3 horses and a mini donkey), and I enjoy participating in a little bit of everything, Western and English. Our goal is building relationships with people. Most of the time that happens with the youth who want to spend time with horses but don’t have an opportunity to do so. However, we have been on a number of John Wayne Cross State rides, a couple of Treks with the boy scouts 35 youth around the south side of Mt Hood, and participated in a number of youth camps. Horses teach us many life lessons. Journey and her friends have taught me many lessons as well as others of all ages.

Journey's Owner, Stacy | Assistant Store Manager

Horses have been a part of my life from a very young age. The majority of my horse career has been working full time at youth camps with horse programs. It has also included Barn Manager at a local barn, and an equestrian college in Oregon. I enjoy riding Western, English, and Trails. When I am not at work at the store I do some private lessons for young kids and continue to volunteer at camps and other youth programs. The best part of my Seven years at Tack Room Too has been getting to know the customers and helping them find the products that make their horse time enjoyable and successful.

Taylor | Store Lead

My name is Taylor and I have a Bachelor's of Science in Equine Management. In college I started colts, did western dressage, ranch riding, and hunter/jumpers. Since graduating, I have interned in the hunter circuit, taken up working at Tack Room Too in 2022, and bought an ottb. I do not currently have a horse, as I just sold my mare after restarting her from off the track. I am passionate about starting and restarting horses, and eventing. I have a soft spot for ottb's, but have trained and worked with stock horses, arabs, and warmbloods as well. At Tack Room Too, I love educating and advising people about various products and their uses, saddle fitting, and making connections with the amazing customers we have.
